Prototype Surface Finishing of EDM
What’s EDM ?
EDM, the full name is Electrical Discharge Machining. The basic working principle of EDM is to use a continuous moving thin metal wire (called electrode wire) as the electrode, and the workpiece is subjected to a pulsed spark discharge to remove the metal and cutting molding.
Scope of EDM application
It is mainly used to process a variety of complex shapes and precision of small parts, such as punch die, fixed plate, stripper plate, forming tools, rapid prototype, metal electrode for EDM processing, various micro-holes, narrow slits, arbitrary curves, etc. They have the outstanding advantages of small processing margin, high processing tolerance, short production cycle, low manufacturing cost, etc., Have been widely used in production, the current domestic and foreign EDM wire-cutting machine tools have accounted for more than 60% of the total number of electric machine tools.
EDM Processing principle
EDM is use of the spark between the electrode and the workpiece, the instantaneous high temperature generated by the layer to remove the material on the surface of the workpiece. EDM is suitable for the processing of high hardness conductive parts. CNC electrical discharge machining machine is the best example of EDM.
